The perils of online dating
12 Answers
You met a girl online, saw a couple of pictures (which you liked), got on really well, and chatted for ages, then after a couple weeks agreed to meet up for a date. You meet her for said date, but realise that the pictures were in fact very flattering, and she wasn't very attractive at all, but you still really get on with her. She clearly fancies you, and you get on really well, but you have zero physical attraction for her. How do you end this as a possible romance without hurting her, given thatit's also so close to Valentines.

Hmmm, this has just happened to me actually. i just sent her an email and said that it doesnt feel right. And also made a load of rubbish up about not ever doing anything like this before. I told her it wasnt her, it was me (bad thing to say, but its the only way to get the message through).
Regarding valentines day, what does it matter? What if it was her birthday the week after? would you not want to tell her then either? She could come up with all sorts of things hapening in her life.
Its better to just be honest with her and let her move on. Dont mention about her pics though, there is no need to hurt her self esteem...

Doesn't matter what you say, she is going to know. I know what pictures flatter me and which ones don't and you hardly going to send cr@ppy pics of yourself. The thing is she must have looked like her pictures at some point for her to like that at that given moment. I would say be honest. If any guy gives you, the its not you, its me the girl is thinking her arse is too big anyway.
you've only been on one date.. I take it this means you've only met up with her once, and been talking to her for about 2 weeks.. so she can't really expect anythng major to come of it after two weeks can she? If you get on really well with her then it's likely you could become really good friends, or is this not possible??

I've been on the other end of this - been in contact with a guy, went on a date, spoke to him quite a bit afterwards then all of a sudden he stopped calling. No reason, no nothing, just stopped. Please don't do that! Just drop her an email saying you can't see it going anywhere, that you don't want to lead her on and you feel it's best if you don't meet again. Wish her luck for finding someone in the future. So much better than 'it's not me, it's you' which ALWAYS means 'it's you but I don't have the b@lls to tell you exactly what it is about you that I don't like'. Good luck!
