24 yr old still at home

I feel like a pensioner and im a single 24 year old lad !
Bascically my best years were 3 years of University where i had my own place etc
I am back at home now and long for that lifestyle with my wage now....
I had a gf until 10 months ago so had reason to stick around, but now shes gone, my mates are all doing their own thing and im left to go home everynight to mum and stepdad, sister and her fella.
I just wish I could have the independence of university again, but its pointless renting around here as everyone is coupled up and I would just be on my own everynight in a poxy flat with no social life,
University was brilliant because there was loads of single mates and we all used to go out all the time.
Im working now and earning decent money, and it seems a waste because I dont do anything in my spare time so money is just piling up.
I want to go out and meet new people, I would rent if it meant a better social life, but I'm not sure it would around here.
Is it best to rent while ur young with no ties, or should I keep saving until I can move out

Why can't you do a house share ?? Or just go abroad and work in something where you get accommodation. Just do something and go for it, because nothing is going to change. If you have no ties there are many opportunities out there. There are also millions of single people in flats and they are not all couples! If there is no social life there then move somewhere where there is. Good luck.
Good thinking lady p...
I have done both flatsharing and travelling and made loads of friends both ways. My flatshare was particularly lucky - he was the manager of a newly opened swanky bar in Manchester city centre and, although not entirely my scene, was always good to pop along with him for drinks and a bit of a look-out when I had nowt to do! He was a real sound bloke too. Made plenty of frineds in my job there so always had enough to do. Travelling / working abroad is a great option too - you thought you enjoyed uni - wait till you get away, see how great the world is - you'll be surprised how quickly you forget how dreary life in the UK can be in February!! Coming home can be painful, but better to go than not to, if you ask me.

It sounds like you're in a bit of a rut.
I actually found, years ago, that working behind a bar a couple o evenings a week on top of your day job, actually gives you a social life AND (tho' a pittance!) you get paid for it.....
Each to their own, but behind the bar you don't feel as lonely going to the pub and you get to meet people, people who party and you could get that old life back......
Ask yourself what you'd do if you only had X amount of time to live....then just decide to DO IT ANYWAY.....why wait? Get on with it - only you can decide to move your life forward and spice it up a bit. Good luck.

With regards the renting thing, it really is up to you - there is an argument for staying home, saving for a deposit, and getting on the property ladder.
With regards the social life, hobbies are a lifesaver. Meet people with shared interests. Also, do you keep in touch with your Uni mates? I have managed to keep in touch with a few, and it's great to meet up to go out the odd time, it's very much like the old days when we do.
Do you miss the people too?
