Just made a short journey. The heater started blowing cold a few minutes from home. When I turned off the engine I could hear the water boiling in the radiator/engine. What could be the problem? It has been lashing with rain and I drove through an enormous puddle (just in case that's anything to do with it).

what was your temperature guage reading? sounds like you are low on water.

The temperature guage was normal because I remember checking it to see if the engine was still cold as the heater was blowing cold.

Thanks Tom, will do - in the morning ! If the water level has gone down does that mean there's a problem? I've never added any water before and I've had my car for 6 years. I know how to drive it and that's about it! Oh, I can change a tyre - that's not bad is it - for a girl..

Might be head gasket problem.

pretty good for a girl. better than some men.
you should really check oil & water at least once a fortnight also tyre pressures.

If cold air then water level has dropped. You will need to bleed the system to get rid of air. If it happens again you may have a leak but most likely head gasket. Sorry
