fuel problem
I have a k reg fuel injection rover metro automatic.
My car suddenly cut out and will not start.
I have checked the plugs and they are not receiving any petrol from the carb.
after a little tinkering around I found no petrol is coming through to a black resevoir, its about the size of a small tin of paint this is next to the fuel injection control system.( I took it out and it was totally empty....presuming this is controled by it........therefor sending petrol to the carb.
No petrol is flowing through the pipe from the tank to the resevoir when the engine is turned over...I disconnected it to check.
Could the problem be the petrol pump located on the tank....or maybe even the resevoir?
Any help here would be appreciated.

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.First things first, before condemning the pump, check all the fuses associated with the system; I'm not overly familiar with it but ther'ell be at least one fuse for the pump, plus others for the injector, etc. There will also be relays which may have failed.
the failure of any one of the circuits could stop the pump from feeding fuel, so check your handbook and take a look in the fuse box.

first of all you cant have a carb and an injection system. If it is injection turn on the ign and you should hear a buzz from the rear for about 2 sec as the pump is in the tank. No buzz? Have you hit kerb or something hard. There is an inertia switch behind the centre consul. Make sure the button on top is down. You cant get into the pump without removing the tank. There is no hole in floor for this. The black tin of paint could be your charcoal cannister so that will be the reason there is no fuel there.
