There is a very offensive answer to the following question: http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/Animals-and-Nat ure/Question372634.html

It advises people to kill their sick animals by hitting them with a shovel.

Why can this answer not be removed.

just because it dosent agree with your take on matters? If i asked for every answer i disagreed with to be removed then there would be no answers left (except mine) you'll just have to be more tolerant and realise that some people may live differently to you. When my poor cat was run over, and it was obvious he wasnt going to live, but he was in pain and struggling to breathe and the vet was a 40 minute car ride away, i wish i'd have had the guts to put him out of his misery there and then, rather than have him die in the back of a car in an open box all alone
You need not worry, that person will soon be banned for having views that are different from the ``awww, ooooh, poor you`` response that was so rightly deresved of the question.
Question Author
The person who asked the question (about vet fees) was deeply offended by the answer.

This was not talking about an animal in serious pain, just any pet that was sick. It was advocating NOT going to a vet with a sick animal, just killing it with a shovel.

How can anyone advocate killing any animal (who is not in pain) with a shovel!

At the top of the page it advises people to seek help from a vet!!

Anyone who follows this advice (in this country) would almost certainly get a visit from the RSPCA and the police! (Look at the guy who killed the greyhounds in his shed and he did it in a proper manner).
we must be reading different questions. In the question that i read, the poster was answering the question about expensive vet bills, and proposing an alternative to the amount of money the questioner had to pay at the vets. At no point did i see them say they advocated killing pets randomly with a shovel. The pet was ill and needed to be put down. I am deeply offended by this question. In fact, i am crying my eyes out now. Does that mean it deserves to get banned?
and in fact, the original question says "we couldnt bare to see him in pain anymore" therefore hoe can you possibly state that the reply was advocating killing ANY animal WHO IS NOT IN PAIN with a shovel.
Get your glasses on!
what do you propose people who cannot afford these bills do?

i know what they used to do before vets were so commonplace - throw them in a river in a sack - or of course bludgeon them

the animal is going to die either way, whether by you or the vet, so as long as its pain free and quick, i see no difference - cruel to be kind.

and although bicker appeared to be trying to be controversial, i agree with bednobs - they didn't actually say kill any sick animal randomly, just as a last resort.

people have been doing it for thousands of years.
kita1 unless I am missing something I agree with bednobs; nowhere is shovel-killing advised in the thread.
Bickers other post did suggest to ask boyfriend/partner to take the pet outside and hit with a shovel, must have been removed.
In Croydon there is a book called "Public Executions" which makes bashing a cat with a shovel look tame.

bickers did say it, but not as a kind of "i hate cats, kill them aaallll" type post, just as a possible way to do the job yourself and save the cash.
its a horrible thing but people do it all the time.
joko spot on. This place is surreal. There is a contrast here. On the one hand you can take a young lady, stick her in a large pot of cold water and light the gas until the water boils and she simmers to death in public, on the other, a cat gets bashed with a shovel outside the back door. Good job I am leaving AB tonight.
Hi,

The post you have highlighted has now been edited and the offending answers removed.
