48ac Turning, writers set on psychiatrist in play area (6,3) J?N ?L? G?M Can it really be Jungle Gym?
51ac Put on drama run about mining region (7) R?O?D?A Must be Rhondda, but why, other than it's a mining area? Think some of the clues have been a bit weird this week.

put on = add + drama = noh + r(un) .....all reversed
If the clue reads writer's then-

Jung......Psychiatrist

On.......Leg (cricket)

My ......Writer turned = ym

Jung leg ym
K - I was thinking: Turning writer's set . . . 'my gel' = 'legym', attach to 'Jung' (Carl Jung, psychiatrist), giving 'Jungle Gym' / play area. ?? All a bit iffy - trying to justify 'set' ! ja
Question Author
Kettledrum, I don't understand why hon = drama. I 'd already got the add & run part of it. I'd be grateful if you'd explain this further, please.
Question Author
Thanks Kay. Didn't know about Jung but still think 'my' for writer's a bit way out. Anyway, at least I can put No. 687 to rest!
drama = noh (Japanese drama I think)
Question Author
You're right Netkey. Just checked with Google & noh is a Japanese form of drama. Many thanks. Good to improve one's general knowledge too.
