I don't get this...
You see, it is really strange. I have a average download of 2500 Kb/s and upload of 900 Kb/ and (as the speed test says) ping of approx. 90. When i try to play my favourite game (half life 2 is great) on the net i have starting ping of 250 and it climbs to 750. how is it even possible if my 600 Kb/s friend always gets a ping from 100 to 200? Please if there is something i don't know please post it. I understand if some peopole think it is a stupid question, but i'm new to the net (but not computers) so realy please post that answer because it dosen't make any sense!!!

I still have a 700 Kb/s connection even to America, that is more than needed to play swiftly (and ping of 80 - 150). I don't have a ''state of art'' computer, could it mess with ping too?
By the way, yes, i did use speedtest.net on all these numbers.
By by the way please reply once more about this.

Your 700kbps is not a constant number. A connection is only as fast as the slowest connection in the chain. Even though your computer is capable of receiving data at 700kbps, if the HL servers can only send you data at 100kbps, that's all you'll get. And I bet the HL servers are quite popular things...
I don't know about HL, but with some online games you can choose other servers to connect to. If so, try connecting to another server. I think gamespy host some that are quite popular.
