My daughter inherited a pond 5yrs ago when she moved into her house and one of the baby fish had a whole in its side. They bought it into the house and it thrived very well outgrowning two tanks. I don't know the exact size of it but looking at my computer screen, it has to be at least 13 inches long and a good 6in deep. It is a fantail. Has anyone had one grown any bigger? It is a gorgeous fish very gracefull. It has now outgrown its tank again. How big is it likely to get?
Goldfish can grow up to 18inches in a very big pond or lake.
It is quite unusual for one to grow to 13 inches in a tank. Are you sure it isn't a koi, they can grow big, even in a tank, and can reach over 3 ft in a large pond.?
The way to tell the difference between a koi and a goldfish is that koi have 4 little barbels around their mouth.....goldfish don't.
very rare but not unheard of for a goldfish to reach 12". I have seen with my own eyes a 25 year old, 10" goldfish which was won at the fair. Wouldn't believe myself except i saw the fish and was assured by the elderly owners that it was fact
