Suddenly this morning when I turned on my TV the picture is striped.

The top third of the screen shows everything green tinged, the middle segment is reddish and everything in the bottom part appears bluer.

What's happened and can it be fixed?

No - not a flat screen.

IF its a normal crt tv or projector tc then it sounds like the tube has gone or in a projection tv the lens are out of line, job for a tv repair guy at the least.

your tv picture is made up from three light sources green red and blue ina normal tv the cthode ray tube focuses thes to gether to creat the picture.

Probably cheaper to get a replacement TV then is it?

very likley depends on size of tv

but lcd and plasms are dropping in price all the time

and a new CRT tv (the normal types) are about the cost of a repair man . if you stick to normal sizes like 28"

up to you if its worth it.

give it a kick amazing how often that works

It's a 14" portable.

Do I kick it when it's on or off?

Which part of the unit do I kick?

replace. a 14" portable can be got for �30

kicking it was not a real option...

I've checked shops locally and the cheapest I can find is �46.97

Where are they as low as �30?
