Parking sensor failure
Hello
I have a BMW 320d 2003 and it would appear my parkign sensor has failed.
When i turn on the ignition and put into reverse the tone sounds constantly and then stops after a few seconds, when this happens nothing will sound when I reverse close to something.
Thought I'd ask hhere first before i let BMW get there grubby mitts on my thinning wallet.
Cheers

One of mine failed on my X5 but it was covered on an extended warranty. They can plug it in and see when it failed and which one in particular. Ask them to check it - they'll charge you an hourly rate for looking at it - usually about 1/2 an hour to get going and then get them to phone you with a quote for the work - they may have to order the part in - this way there's no surprise in the bill.

You can check if each sensor is working and if they are wired individually you could buy one and fit it yourself.
Have someone hold the car in reverse and gently run your hand very lighly accross each sensor, if its working you can usually feel a light tingle.
If the sensor is individual you can buy one, get a bonnet chips guy to paint it (if colour coded) and lift the back of the car on wheel ramps and fit.
