Dopplers are awfully bad if you have a baby who is back to back, my son was back to back and we could never get a heartbeat, on the other hand my daughter used to move about so much they couldnt get a reading! She did this after an operation i had and as i was numb i couldnt feel her moving, everyone went white until she suddenly moved and we heardher!
Ooh just as a small note, this is the reason that a huge majority of doctors and midwives want the sale of dopplers to the public withdrawn, at my hospital alone the figures for scans have rised an incredible amount due to home dopplers not working or detecting a heartbeat.
I had to wait 3 weeks for my dating scan even though it was an absolute necessity that i had an op before 24 weeks and we didnt know what gestation i was!
Those dopplers are a pain in the ass!

Yes, I was regularly worried by them until I found a midwife who used an ear trumpet instead..she found them far easier to use, and reckoned they rarely let her down.

As redcrx says, the doppler can't detect heartbeat very well if the position of the baby isn't as it 'should' be.
Oooops!

Why did I type redcrx and not boobesque? sorry hun, must be one of those days :o(
lol i have those days all the time! Baby brain lol
LOL boobesque..I know they say you lose a certain amount of brain cells per baby. I have had 4, so there lies my excuse ;o)

There is another warning for you, connie!
lol pippa, did you expect to see me here? I know exactly what you mean about brain cells dwindling when you have kids, stupidly i thought they grew back lol

Connie, did the scan show that perhaps the placenta is at the front as this may have prevented your midwife being able to find heartbeat. i cant imagine how worrying it mustve been for you but glad alls well.
