All are dingbats of phrases such as 'open and shut case' and 'the bees knees' I'm stuck on 4 and all help would be gratefull received. 1 Figure walking away to the left and the number 1 in a square on the top right hand of the square. 2 Reel of cotton in top rh of square with thread going through button at bottom lh of square. 3 Newspaper filling most of the square called TIMES headline 'Deadly Attack. Hand coming from the bottom rh of the square either hitting or screwing up the page 4 Cat looking through bottom rh pane of a window - has tail up. a floral curtain with tie back is down the rh side of the square. It is difficult to describe a dinbat - hope that they mean something to someone many thanks in advance
Thank you bookwormer and Dinkypuzzled I am delighted with 'Back to square one' and 'Hitting the headlines' but not really sure about tail wind. I think i may have over played the cats's tail - I'm sure that it is more to do with the cat looking in. Have found another one that I missed.
The drawing isn't particularly clear but it is question mark in between two flames - but it might be between 2 leaves
