trying to help a pal

hi my pal (not close) had an bump with a bus and she swears it was the bus drivers fault. he is saying its not he told my pal, i've already had too much bumps if i say this was my fault i'll lose my job. so she asked me to say i'd seen it then he would just admitt to it and that would be end of story. now i'm getting letters saying that i've to fill out a witness statment and may get cited to go to court. i'm really scared now and i'm worried sick please help

If you lie in the wittness statement you could find yourself in court on a charge not sure what but might be attempting to defraud an insurance company. Also, your pal would be in trouble too. You could end up with a criminal record.
It would be beter to tell pal you will not lie and back out now..

As I understand it, if you tell lie to cover yourself, it's perjury and if you tell a lie to cover someone else the charge is 'perverting the course of justice'.

Both are most serious - far more serious than the original bump, so please, back out now, otherwise your next questions on AB will be about posting bail, picking locks or maybe digging tunnels...
