I have a small Acer which I want to grow in a pot. What kind of soil do I use?

you need to use ericaceous soil - this works wonders!
Yes..I agree with pingping. Also make sure you keep your acer out of any wind or it will die.
Hi Penny dog, Good sound advice (X2) given above.
Assuming it's ome of the very attractive Japanese varieties, it is highly suitable for pot culture.
As well as the acidic soil and protection from cold winds, it will do best in dappled shade and some protection from morning sun and do not allow the pot to dry out.
