i saw a while ago on tv ,the lawyer that gets all the the celebs off paying their fines said that a parking ticket has to be finished and placed on your car by the parking attendant other wise if it is not you can just drive off while he's writing it,i have seen this done by a few drivers anyone know the legality of this?
You can be fined without waiting for the ticket, as long as the attendant has had enough time to put all the required details of your car on the ticket.
thanks for replies
the guy on tv said this was a little known fact that it had to be finished and placed on the windscreen.just hoping someone may know legally
bear in mind that you if you are a celebrity you could probably punch the warden and then drive over them while snorting a gram of powder and get away with it on the basis that they hadn't written the ticket and obviously hadn't realised how famous you are.
It is not even necessary for a ticket to be written. They could just take the vehicle number and follow it up later. I don't think many would bother, unless they had started to write the ticket, which is accountable. I have known one or two cases of careless driving caused by driving off and making the person jump out of the way.
sorry this is still not answering the legal aspect of it. its all guessing about it
i think toureman is about the most accurate.if you drive off before hes got all the required info that includes the tax disc number
toureman thanks for reply
i presume you have legal knowledge as to you "only give facts" reply, which i think is a bit curt,
otherwise i think being such a factual fella you'd be very boring company.
I don't know if they send you the ticket but if they do check all the details because if any of them are wrong you can get off on a technicality,
they put the wrong make of car down on mine once although the reg No and everything else was right, I got away with it.
dusty/degger, I drove off from sainsburys before he placed the ticket on my screen. i presume i will receive a ticket in the post over the next couple of days but did you find out anymore about the legality of leaving the scene before the ticket being served to you?
