get back at the speed camera?

No it wouldn't, because the first camera wouldn't be activated in time.

er... yes. Of course it would. It's activated by speed, not which way the car is pointing!!

sorry ugly bob - the first camera you would ordinarily travel through first has to take the first photo. Then the last camera takes the second photo.

By the time the car had reversed through the intended first camera the car would be gone.

It's academic anyway as most speed cameras are in speed zones of 30 mph plus. Reverse has only one speed - slow.

You're looking at it a different way to me. I guess you're right if you're reversing in the opposite direction to the normal traffic flow.

Oh, and incidentally, it is quite possible to do 30+ in reverse. I've done it in a 1.1 Nova, so in other cars I'd imagine it would be much easier.

Yes, if you reverse through the speed camera, but in the correct direction then you will be caught on camera if you go above the speed limit.

You may also find yourself with a fixed penalty notice for reversing for unreasonable distance.

Hey BOB, I once did 65mph backwards in an Austin Champ! They have five forward gears and to reverse they have a separate gear lever which gives you the same five gears to reverse, Quite scary.

in the opposite direction - maybe, depending on camera.

Ethel, there are no two cameras. There is only one camera (unless you are talking about SPECS averaging cameras). The speed is metered and then triggers two camera flashes and pictures.

Toureman, could you put headlights on the back and rear lights on the front and drive it backwards legally?!

Ah to hell with all these answers the easiest way around this is take your number plates of or nick somebody elses and stick them on your car or another way around this is to do a handbrake turn as you aproach the camera and that way you will have you photo taken sideways and dont forget to say cheese............

When we go quite fast in our ambulance, the cameras on the other side of the road always go off as we are approaching them, so I would say they would. Sorry to be so boring, all the other answers were much more entertaining!
