How do I turn off Norton Security while I instal my printer & camera , the printer instructions say all virus protection programs must be turned off before installing the printer software

You will need to open the Security Centre (yellow icon in the bottom right of the task bar at the bottom of the screen). Select configure and disable everything. Install the printer, then open security centre again and put things back the way they were.
Personally, I would install the printer without turning Norton off. I have never had an issue and have installed dozens of printers of different types. If there is a problem, you can always go back and turn Norton off.

I wouldv'e normally agreed with HWKE and said that you don't really need to turn your anti-virus off, until recently. I was installing a new printer in the office and it set everything off and was due to me still having the anti-virus running.

If you want, install the new printer while you are not connected to the internet, that way you are going to be safe from new threats when you switch your anti-virus off.

I agree with PatTheRat that if you do go with turning your antivirus off, it would be better not to be connected to the internet.
