G24 parking

My wife and i visited retail park in norwich two weeks ago and for this we got a parking fine of �60 reduced to �40 if we pay in 14 days ,
Not satified with this i visited store managers to ear my views we spent �536 in total ,two of the managers told me yes there is a 2hour limit to park but there is also 15 min to alough you to get out of car park, (my extra time was 14min so i shouldn`t even got ticket)and in his view they were like dick turpin ROBBERS,when i left store i came accross another shopper with the same problem and he had been given on headed paper this info from the landlord of the retail park ,so guys & gals don`t let G24 bully you & take your hard earnt cash

every where you go now they want to charge you if you stay in their car parks a little longer then needed,petrol stations,mcdonalds,supermarkets,motorway services,its getting crazy. we need a uprising to stop them.

I borrowed this from another website forum I use, re people getting tickets, and th scamming firm "buying" the info off the DVLA.


"On private property that isn't controlled by a local authority, they cannot legally issue any kind of fine or penalty for a parking offence.

The so-called 'fine' they give you is actually a payment they ask for in return for not taking you to court for either civil trespass, in cases where parking is free and signs are displayed stating the time limit, or for breach of contract if they issued a ticket on the way in. Unfortunately, most people don't know the law and pay up without question.

Funny that the ticket you get on the windscreen or through the post looks a lot like a Police ticket complete with black and white checks though...

In the majority of cases where tickets aren't issued on entry and parking is free, these companies will never go to court if you refuse to pay. The reason is that the courts will almost always reject the company's argument that, by parking on the property you were accepting the terms displayed on the sign. This is considered a 'passive' contract and the courts usually throw them out.

Ticketed parking is more tricky legally because it's easier to argue that you actively accepted the terms of the contract. The companies still rarely pursue the non payers to court because it's too expensive to chase after the few that won't pay when most people can be scared into paying up for the price of a first class stamp.

If you get one of these - write to the Managing Director and ask him on what legal basis they feel that they can issue the penalty? Nothing frightens them more than a punter who knows the law!

Hi I have also just received a parking fine from G24 for Norwich Riverside Retail Park. I was unaware of the two hour parking restriction and have since been back to look at the signs. I feel i certainly DID NOT AGREE to pay �60 for parking over two hours ( i did park for three hours). I dont know how i stand legally on this one if i do not pay?? Any information gratefully received. Thanks.

Hi jane if i were you i would try going to see store managers in outlet and woolworths they may be able to help if you have recipts for stores, my ticket has been withdrawn ,
Read posting from andy boz above it may help but be were if you ring them up be ready for them as they are very rude and abrupt people( JUST LIKE SOME OTHER PEOPLE )

There is a city centre retail oark near me and if you park there and leave the site the moment you leave you got a ticket or car clamped as people just use it as free parking for city centre but if your shoping there why should you get a fine

I've been done for parking outside Staples Ltd, High Wycombe. I outstayed my welcome by 12 minutes. I've been shopping at Staples for years. Now neither I nor anyone else from my small company will ever shop there again. I'm going to let Staples know this. It isn't the way to run business. Everyone else who suffers like this should do the same.
