My neighbour is demanding I put a fence up, It is half up, the recent winds blew half of it down. I have an extremely long garden over 200 feet, he says i am breaking the law, am I because I can afford to put a fence up?
You don't have to have anything at all between your properties - there is no law. Assuming that the fence is not broken and lying in his garden then you don't have to do anything.
If it is your fence, you can remove it completely and there is nothing he can do about it, he should put one up himself if he's that bothered.
I say let him put a fence up to. Anytime my neighbours have wanted to change the fencing between myself and them they have paid for it and had i wanted to change it i would pay for it. Tell him to do one!!
I would re errect the fence you have at present. Dig deeper footings for the posts and fill with concrete. When attaching the fence panels to the posts don't just use nails, buy those steel U clips bought from the DIY stores and the panels will stay attached whatever the wind.
