I have a high level of the bad cholesterol apparently but I don't eat meat, or pastry,. well the odd greggs pasty every few months, and I don't eat anything full fat. The nurse gave me a booklet but I don't seem to be a typical case as i do eat sensibly and well. What could have caused this? i am abit upset as I didn't expect it to be so bad.

Hi dot,
I was diagnosed with a reading of 11.2 13 years ago. I eat fairly sensibly and statins never made one bit of difference to me. It was mostly down to Genetics.
My Consultant prescribed drugs from the lipantil group. Two differnent types. My reading is now at 4.9. So, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Do not worry too much about it and go back and see your GP. They can help.
