We are thinking of going to Melbourne next March, who is the best for travelling with from Manchester,costwise and stopovers,etc and has anybody ever hired a motor home

Check out Mercury Direct. I've booked 3 weeks to Brisbane for �2300 for 2 people. That includes flight, inflight meals, tranfers, and accomodation in a 4 1/2 * apartment. There are some awsome deals on there.

Hi try Air Malaysia i flew with them to Brisbane the service on board was out standing second to none flight price was �720 including tax and stop over but that was in 2002 , if you have children or a person with health problems they are really attentive , i did i had 2 children that had never flown they loved it and my mother who has a few health problems felt very cared for , you could also try Singapore Airways there really good aswell an elderly friend of mine wont fly with anyone else and she flys to and from New Zealand 3 times a year .
It's such a long flight 21 - 24 hrs you need to think of comfort aswell .
If you are stopping over like i did in malaysia try out the Pan Pacific Hotel its 5 * of beauty that was also included in the price .

Thx for the info that sounds just what we are looking for, would prefer independant to a package holiday but are just doing price comparisons at the moment

This year will be our 4th Mercury direct holiday in Australia. Brilliant value for money - stayed at Surf Parade resort in Surfers twice - very good hotel and couldn't do the trip cheaper by ourselves. Where are you going after Brisbane Vikki67

My son stayed in a brand new hostel in Melbourne in a twin room (not dorm) and said it was better than any hotel he had stayed in regarding facilities. Don't have the name at the moment but will put it on later. City something.
