a friend of mine has just had car accident in a motorbility car
the car was writen off but he was over the drink drive limit ,is he covered for the damage ?

If someone is over the limit, it usually invalidates the insurance so I would say no, he isn't covered.

Thats what taxis and buses are for...
a chap hit my car and he was over the limit. the insurance company's on both sides were not inerested and I was told to get a solicitor to take him to court , but was advised that as he had no money I would never have got anything out of it, so I didn't bother. if you read the insurance policy it will state the exclusions, one of which is " driving whilst under the influence of drink or drugs" so definetly not insured.
thundercrack - that is very odd. The insurance company will usually honour third party claims when their insured is drunk.

Your insurance company was lax. If you had gone to court you would have been claiming against his insurance company, not him.

thanks for the answers ,i asked the question because the insurance company are going to payout for a new car and i was disgusted by this and i feel it makes a mockery of the mobility system.
