Naomi, I listened to this yesterday on the radio and it made my blood boil. These MP are a complete shower of b*stards who are merely trying to proctect their own interests!

As a former civil servant I am fully aware conversant with the data protection act and the freedom of information act. These acts if applied correctly should not give out personal or damaging information to or about individuals unless it is in the public domain, if there is a flaw in the system then that should be address and remedied, but to make MP's exempt???? NO WAY!

Typical of this Government, one rule for us and another for them. I hope the Lords throw it out! I thought they were there to serve us and not the other way around?

I don't agree wi the proposed change but you may not know that it's a Private Member's Bill and it has been proposed by David Maclean who is a TORY MP.

TCL am sure it is typical of any government whether Tory, Labour or other, it just makes me sick.

I was interested in the voting figures for this bill. There was over 100 Labour MPs as against about 18 Tories. They are just a load of hyprocrites!

Big Brother is upon us. Do as we say, not as we do. This is a complete and utter disgrace, and shame on those who voted for it. They're not fit for office and I hope whoever put them there will ensure that they're unceremoniously booted out at the first available opportunity.

No they should not be exempt. The arguments being put forward in favour of exemption are entirely spurious and/or mischievous. They should be leading from the front, not covering their collective arse in this way. *******!

An interesting point is that if they are not exempted, then any correspondence of yours to your M.P. will end up in the public domain. That would stop many people from lobbying their M.P.'s.
Therefore, M.P.'s should not be exempted, but constituents identities should never be revealed.
