Is it possible for wild birds to copy the sound of telephones? because I keep hearing them around my garden and they sound very convincing, so I was just wondering if that was their natural "call" or if they've copied off the woman next door whose phone is always ringing.

Starlings are the most likely culprits as their mimicry is second to none - in this country anyway.

Telephones, mobiles and chickens are just a few, but I'm sure other people will have heard far more than this.

I also know of a Rook that does a brilliant 'Buzzard' - fooling everyone!
We use to have a bird in our back garden that did a brilliant Trill phone(if you can remember those),had us running into the house regularly.
Also not many yearsago we had one who did the first bars of "I'm a Barbie girl".That use to make us laugh.
Also agree it's likely to be starlings - I was woken by one some years ago, pretending to be a burglar alarm on my windowsill!
ive got a bird that does' the first few notes of im a barbie girl,not sure what bird it is tho.
