Sikh greetings
3 Answers
I have just rung the Church Bells for a wedding. Amongst the guests were a number fo Sikhs. One man greeted 2 of the women of about his age by touching their feet and then kissing them on the cheeks. Another man, a bit older greeted 2 women, of about his age by touching them on the head and making namasti.
Can anyone explain this for me.

I'm a young not very religious hindu, but I think the touching someones feet is a sign of respect for that person, what tends to happens is the recipient will act as if to say 'no,no need' lol but it's done to certain relations such as elder people or grandparents etc or whoever they wish to show alot of respect to. I guess the head touching is similar but in my experience the younger person will go for the feet and other person will touch the head to sort of bless them if you will, so perhaps the guy you saw touching the womens heads was a senior relation to them. ..just a theory.
