have you ever lent anything out to a "friend" and not had it back? What was it? Could be money or a possession that you wished you'd never lent. Has it taught you never to lend anything again or borrow for that matter.?

I hate lending out tools, all my tools are really good quality and when people borrow them you find they have been stirring paint with the screwdriver or hitting it with a hammer or i get my socket set back with bits missing or they have replaced a 20 pound item with a 2.50 one hoping it will not be noticed. I would rather they just apologised for losing it in the first place.
Because I am fussy about my tools, I never borrow other peoples, I just go and buy the tools i need myself!!

Jules I have definitely learnt my lesson and now very rarely lend anyone anything unless I'm 100% sure I will get it back. When I was younger I had a video tape of music videos and perfomances by all my favourite bands and it had loads of Glastonbury footage on there, including a clip of Noel Gallagher performing an acoustic performance of Wonderwall before it was released with Liam spoiling it and when I lent it to a friend, her mum bloody taped over it! As a 15 year old who was just discovering music, I was devastated (I'm over it now. Just). Then at college, I lent a cd to a friend (I fancied the pants off him and wanted to impress him) and had to practically rip his head off to get it back! And when I did, the inside booklet was missing! If I borrow anything off anyone I treat it with respect and I can't stand it when you lend people stuff and they let it get mixed up into their own possessions and therefore 'lose' it!
Wow, I didn't realise I was so annoyed by it until I posted this, thanks Jules!

feel better for that hellie???? Its good to get things off your chest now and again .
The tape thing must have been devastating for you! (even though in my opinion, best thing to happen with oasis on there) lol
The one important thing i leant was money that i never got back, it was a small amount of money that my late Dad left me. I was faithfully promised it back but to this day, im still waiting! 921 years on) Thing is, it was my brother who borrowed it, he had spent the same amount that he had been left and then had mine! Oh well, you live and learn i guess!

Yes Jules, now that I'm older I agree about the Oasis thing, but I was young and foolish :)
The money thing must've been all the more awkward by the fact it was family who 'borrowed' it, and the situation in which you got it. I find it hard to bring stuff like that up when it's someone you are that close to. x
