hi, i have just taken redundancy from work after 20 years due to relocating to essex, i wont be working down there as i have just found out i am pregnant, my husband will be working but am i entitled to anything, benefits, maternity allowance, i have no idea as i have been working since leaving school? any help would be appreciated. thanks

Not much I'm afraid if your husband earns a decent amount. You might be able to get jobseekers allowance but you do have to be actively seeking work. You will get child allowance and your husband should be able to claim working families tax credit or whatever they call it these days.

You have to be in employment or be self-employed to claim maternity allowance. :(
