A guy that I had known for a while started asking me all these questions the other day. First he asked if I had a second job (we work together), and then he asked where I worked before. Then he was asking me questions about where I grew up and my family. When he found out that I grew up in the city he's from his face lit up and he said he spent 9 years there. He ended the conversation by saying "so you're on your own then". Do you think this means he's interested in me?

Well it's more likely to mean he's a nosy blighter ;0)

But seriously no, it doesn't sound like he's interested from those questions, just being friendly. But you never know, he could just be building up a repertoire (sp) with you.
Probably just wants to know if your house is left unattended and have you got anything worth nicking.
Possibly interested but I wouldn't put all your eggs in one basket. Only fools rush in as they say, so he's probably just trying to find out a bit more about you first. Why not ask questions back? Might be able to guage it a little better than by asking us!
sounds like he workds for the Inland revenue! ; )
