Basically the answer is no

a couple of the latest lappys do have the facility ... but generally speaking .. the only upgrade that is available would be to swap the LCD for one of the new shiny black jobbys . and that's not going to improve performance.

If you have caught the gaming bug - think about a desktop...
heavier on your knees but for more powerful and over time much more scope for upgrades
It's only the really uber expensive laptops that can have their graphics cards upgraded.

Generally all that can be upgraded in a laptop is the hard drive and RAM.

Like Troll says, desktop machines are designed for upgrades.
Not YET. Asus have this little baby: http://www.engadget.com/2007/01/08/hands-on-wi th-the-asus-xg-station-external-gpu/ on the way. It was due Q2 2007 (so it's late) and pricing seems likely to be around $600 but it does appear to be upgradeable. (Possibly not "officially", but it houses a standard PCI card).

Other manufacturers have similar projects in (probably) less advanced stages of development, so I guess that there will be the usual drop in price once they are more common.
