burn dvd

how do i burn a dvd. i go to nero and it does everything its suppose to, but when it comes to burning to disc i'm being told i have wrong disc in. i tried both sorts of dvds, but keep getting same answer. What am i doing wrong?

silly questions 1st...are you sure you have a dvd writer ?
What discs are you using ? Have you tried same discs in a friends computer ?

When you go to choose the type of disc you want to burn in nero (I assume a little window pops up with things like Audio Disc, Data Disc, etc., down the side), make sure that at the top-left it's set to DVD and not CD. Sometimes it has a habit of resetting itself to CD.

Thanks for your help. Still can't get it to work. If i don't have easy step by step guide i'm lost. Must be to old for all this jargon. Will plod on and try and sort it out. Thanks again.

You may try Movavi Video Suite, this software can convert video to the right DVD format and burn DVD, I always use it to burn DVD movie and watch with my DVD player, very easy to use and works perfect for me, here is a guide about it
