Feral pigeons

I have Pigeonoff spikes on my windows but one happy pigeon family roosted on the fire escape ledge when I was away for over a month. When I went to break up the nest and put on spikes, I saw that there were two baby pigeons there (they're horrible). How long do I have to wait for them to fly away so that I can clean up and put on spikes? I couldn't kill them.

Why are people so horrible about pigeons. Its ever since Ken Livingstone got all uptight about them. I think they are peacable birds and I like their soft cooings. I know they make a mess but not half as much as us humans. They will fledge fairly soon, baby pigeons grow quickly, so please leave them alone.

Why not put flower pots or something on the ledge so they cannot make a nest easily. Please wait until they have flown the nest and make sure the mother bird has not laid any more eggs.

ah, how can you say they are horrible - much to my husbands disgust, as he has to clean the patio every morning, I feed pigeons and doves, I even bought an extra large bird house so they could sit inside it - they sit on the roof waiting for me to put the food out - then my dogs spend the next hour on 'pigeon watch'!
