plastic verse wood gutters

can anyone tell me what is better wood gutters or plastic. i need a new gutter but not sure which to get, the old one is a wood one. and also how does it if i get plastic will it join wiv the next doors wood gutter.

Wooden gutters? Are you joking? Before plastic UPVC they were asbestos, and before that they were cast iron.
I'd use plastic every time if I am replacing - last a lifetime.
Agree its not going to be funny joining them to wood. Can you seal your new end with an end stop (plastic0 then seal his wooden end with wood and black silicone?

I never heard of wooden guttering!! or do you mean the fascia!!
I would go for plastic!!

yet i don't get why you find wood gutters odd, where i live they are wood gutters on the houses.
a few have plastic my friend and my house needs new ones now, and just wanted to pick the better of the two, my friend will be able to join them together hopefully.

Ive had a lot of involvement with guttering in Devon over the years and the only wooden guttering I have ever seen is in valleys between two roofs and like you say, lined with lead.

Maybe its a localized thing!!

Me also. Wooden valleys clad in lead, but not at the outside edge of the roof.

but i can tell u all the wood gutters round here are not lined with lead.
but will be going for plastic this time.
