Irish visa needed with UK visa?

My girlfriend is coming over next month from Peru. She will be in the UK with a tourist visa as she is spending a week here. We would like to go to Dublin for a day, will the UK visa be valid for dublin, or will she have to apply for a separate Irish visa to enter?

As far as I can see, from the relevant website, holders of Peruvian passports require a visa to visit Ireland. There appears to be no exemption for persons who hold a UK visa:

Thanks Buenchico. I've had a thorough look on the website and it seems like the visa cosst 60 Euros for short term.

According to the UKvisas website (a joint Directorate of the Home Office and Foreign & Commonwealth Office)...

'The UK, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man and the Republic of Ireland collectively form the Common Travel Area. In Immigration terms, this means that a person accepted for entry at any point in the Area does not normally require leave to enter any other part.'

There are exceptions for certain persons entering through the Republic of Ireland - but this should not be applicable to the scenario you describe.

That being said I would suggest you enquire of the relevant agencies to ensure the statement is correct.

The UK and Rep. of Ireland are both in the Common Travel Area. Citizens of the CTA do not require visas to travel between these two countries (nor the Isle of Man and Channel Islands).

In theory (as indicated by the UK site) the rules of the CTA also allowed foreign nationals to enter a part of the CTA on a valid tourist visa and not require a further visa to travel elsewhere within the CTA (although there were restrictions on some persons entering Ireland on an Irish visa and then travelling to the UK).

However this guidance document (.DOC format) from the Irish Naturalisation and Immigration Service site states that holders of a UK visa require an Irish visa (and vice versa) for travel between the two countries. This appears to be since 1st Jan 2007, as a result of a change in Irish Visa law.

Ionce wanted to take a friend with an Indian passport to Ireland for the New Year, rang the Embassy very friendly said come along when pal arrives and we will issue for them.
When we got there in London, a different story, very rude , very unhelpful and we were told it would take weeks not days, lost money on the trip becasue obviously we couldnt go, the ferry gave a refund but obviously not the hotel.
