every morning I have a snail trail across my lounge carpet and its driving me mad can anyone tell me how to catch or stop this happening

It's probably a slug trail, the little blighters can get through the tiniest gap so -

first off you need to check all your door and window seals, and block any that have even the tiniest gap. You must make sure your external doors are properly sealed all round, even the tops - they do climb, and will get in this way.

get some slub pellets and sprinkle your garden with them.

Lace all your paths and steps with salt at night, repeat every night for a few weeks.

If the problem persists, sprinke salt along all the room borders, especially over doorways and windowsills, that should at least deter them.

if you have no pets or kids just put a few slug pellets around the room until its gone!!

I used to have the same problem with slug trails a few years ago. At the front of my house near the gutter I have an air vent where they were coming through and entering the house from under the skirting board. I blocked a small gap that was there and they haven't come in since.

Please don't do what I did and come downstairs early in the morning barefoot, then step on slug with a squelch, oh yuk!

I thought I was the only one to get slugs inside the house - in some way it's comforting to know I'm not alone! I can't use slug pellets indoors because of the cats but I do sprinkle salt around and that does seem to do the trick.
