Several countries/regions claim to be the birthplace of yoghurt. In fact, it's very likely that it would have appeared independently in almost any basic animal-herding society. The word itself is Turkish and...wouldn't you believe it?..Turkey is one of the countries that claim it as their very own!
Actually it originated in a small village in Norway called Jyorghurt
