Problems with my mother

I'm an 18 year old girl and for the last 7 years have had major problems with my mother.She is a bit weird and won't let me do anything. I am not allowed to wear make up,dye my hair,shave my body hair,eat food that contains artificial additives,have a boyfriend,wear skirts above my knee or tops that are anywhere near low cut! Iam not allowed to sleep over at friends houses because she says I will not be able to sleep,I am allowed to go out with friends in the evening but am not allowed to stay at their house and she always makes an excuse for why I can't leave the house.I'm not allowed high heel shoes,nail extensions,fake tan,to use a hair dryer.And the worst is she thinks it is bad to wash everyday and will only let me wash every week! I have to be asleep by 11 or I am in huge trouble.I've lost most of my frieds because they think I'm weird. It's not me it's her.My Dad is fine.What is wrong with her? The only other woman I know like her is my Muslim friend's mother! I'm off to Uni ina few months whch will help the situation but will not solve anything

Many children have horrible upbringings but only leave at 18 and my Dad doesn't see a problem.I've never told him I'm unhappy

how would you know if your dad sees a problem or not if youve not spoken to him? how would you know if hes fine? he may well be the one telling your mum what to do and how to treat you

No because he has always let me do thngs that I know my Mum wouldn't let me do.When she went away to see my Gran he asked me to bring friends over to the house which was something I was never allowed do.

Hay i got a mother like that.. and i am 36.. she tries to interfer with everything.. she even drove away the best man that ever happened to me.. as soon as you can run girl ... you do it.. sorry but i can't let another person be like me..Or stand up to her.. i bet you get the guilt trip too.. no-body will love you like she does and all that.. well its lies... and dont let her give you the crap shes nothing without you.. whats your dad for ?? if you talk to your dad he will likey say... i ignor her maybe you should too.. yes easy said then done.. be brave and you will prove to yourself it can be done, stand up and make yourself heard.. be calm but firm.. she will calm down sooner rather then later when she relises shes lost you....

I sometimes despair of the cynicism and occasionally downright nastiness on this site. Everything green becomes a ruskie. The only eccentricity about this question was the ban on washing.

I have wondered how I would get on if I signed up a new name for research purposes.

Whiffey, I dont understand this Russian thing.
Is the poor girl a refugee in need of help?
Why is there so much antipathy towards her, is it because she is foreign.
The Russians apparently helped us so much during the War, I think the least we can do, is to offer some sympathy and friendship.
What is this green thing about? I have always associated Russia with the colour red

sorry not to answer the question but to everyone who's saying "she would've left by now" or "her dads still there and is allowing this to go on?" etc, this sort of thing does happen and how many girls of 18 do you know who would be able to get somewhere to live on their own? also, if her mum is like that to her she may well also be like it to her dad so he is not in a position to help his daughter! even if this post isn't genuine its still awful that you are denying that these sort of things can happen because it seems to me that if everyone did this child abuse would just get worse and worse, and yes she is still a child as she is still dependant on her mum!
