caught speeding
I have just got a ticket for speeding, the police got my friends bike on a speeding gun (LTI ULTIMATE) but they said i was doing the same speed, whilst he was overtaking me. Can they do this without speed data for my bike?

i would suppose it would depend on how quick your friend was going - eg, lets say it was a 50 mph zone and he/she was ging 120. It would be unreasonable to suggest that you wernt speeding if you were together in the road. if however he/she was going say 60 in a 50 mph zone, then the picture is different.
personally, i cant see how they can prosecute you without any evidence - but myself would be inclined to take a fixed penalty if it were offered to prevent me having to spend more money contesting it

In these circumstances I would say that you cannot be found guilty. For a successful conviction, speeding requires corroborative evidence.
So in normal circumstances, the laser gun provides the primary evidence, and the police officer provides the corroboration.
The same applies to speed cameras. The speed detection device provides the primary evidence, and the white lines on the road are for corroboration.
In your case, the only evidence available is from the police officer. Corroboration is required by law for a conviction. So I can't see it going anywhere.
