usernames

Can someone tell me why some people have more than one username? Some quite openly say they used to be called ".........." or refer to a past username or admit they regularly change name. I don't understand why. I know similar questions have been posed but no one actually say why?

I only have one other because I kept getting put in the AB dungeon so I had that as back up. Some people hide behind several names usually to have a go at people coz they're too chicken too under their own name, others just do it to make us think 'oooh who are you' not that most of us are that bothered. And some are just plain weird and get banned too often.

there is one user on here who gets banned on a regular basis, he/she always comes back in another guise, usually with a username that has a reference to david bowie

It is because you get ganged up on, reported by a few, so you have to return in another guise. Who cares it is only cyber space.

I have another username RATTER14 for emergencies only used it a couple of times when there has been a problem looging on under RATTER15

I originally posted under one name, a very normal comment was taken the wrong way and when I tried to defend myself things got out of hand (not on my side).

I left the site for a while and then came back but decided to start afresh with a new name.

i would imagine that for every user with more than one name there is a different reason. Fr me it was because i was rather ganged up on one day, and then everytime i said anything it was shot down simply because it was coming from me. The "gang" saw my name and just denigrated everything i said despite the fact it was normal answers, normal questions etc. I got fed up of the flack, so started posting under a different name, whereupon, (surprise surprise) my comments were accepted. So there ya go pirate, it looks like you have about 6 different reasns now!

Ditto wowo,exactly the same happened to me.I have two usernames now,I usually use the other one but for some reason,when i post an answer,it doesn`t appear,so i`ll be using this one until i get some feedback from the Ed.
