In a recent question about becomming vegaterian somebody mentioned that Quorn is made from battery hen eggs. I was a little upset about this so I decided to check it out and its not true. Quorn clearly states on the packet that its made from free range eggs (which would suggest in the past it might have been battery eggs). Anyway to the question, anybody got some decent ideas for using Quorn.

Quorn isn't made from any kind of eggs. It's mycoprotein from fungi (as in mushrooms).
Quorn is great! Use it like you would use chicken in stir frys, use the mince as you would use mince in spag. bol or cottage pie. You can also get Quorn swedish balls, which you cook in the oven, and then add to spaghetti and meatballs. And Quorn sausages are great, but be careful not to overcook them. Cauldron Foods also make AMAZING vegetarian sausages.
Quorn is mushroon based, but does contain rehydrated egg white.
rehydrated egg-white! well, I'm never too old to learn!

yeah been doing the old stir fry's with it for a while. They have also recently (at least recently in my shop) Quorn mince pies, bit like the old linda mc pies. They are really nice.
quorn bacon is really tasty as well.and the ribsters are great to.
I don't think the free range claim is true of all Quorn products. When Quorn was first produced ALL the ranges used non-free range eggs. A few years ago they began to produce some of the products (I think the pretend ham / chicken slices etc) using free range eggs, but not all. I think it's things like sausages, burgers etc that still aren't strictly veggie (depending on your own personal definiton of vegetarian that is!) The easiest way to check is to look for the official seal of approval from the Vegetarian Society on the packet.
