Which PS3 settings do I choose...?
2 Answers
So I just bought my PAL 60gig PS3 and have connected it up to a 42 inch 1080p HDTV Plasma (HDMI) as well as to a Yamaha 5.1 surround system (Optical Out)
I have downloaded and installed the 1.90 firmware update and I was just wondering which of the following options I should choose (some options I had a guess at and then decided to come here first so as not to brick my machine!)
The option in brackets at the end of each setting is the one I have it currently set to:
SETTINGS:
BD/DVD SETTINGS
Cinema Conversion>automatic/video (automatic)
Dvd Upscaler>off/double scale/normal/full screen (full screen)
Bd/Dvd Video Output Format (HDMI)>automatic/RGB/ypb cb pr cr (automatic)
Bd1080p 24hz Output (HDMI)>automatic/off/on (automatic)
Bd/Dvd audio output format (HDMI)>Bitstream/linear PCM (Linear PCM)
Bd audio output format (optical digital)>bitstream/linear PCM (bitstream)
Also....
SETTINGS:
DISPLAY SETTINGS
Cross Colour Reduction Filter>off/on (off)
RGB Fullrange (HDMI)>limited/full (full)
Ypb Cb pr CR Super-white (HDMI)>on/off (on)
Also.....
SETTINGS:
GAME SETTINGS
Ps/Ps2 Upscaler>off/normal/fullscreen (off)
Ps/Ps2 Smoothing> off/on (off)
And finally...
SETTINGS:
SOUND SETTINGS
Audio Output Settings>digital out (optical)>
Dolby Digital 5.1 ch (ticked)
DTS 5.1 ch (ticked)
AAC (NOT ticked)
Linear PCM 2 ch 44.1 khz (ticked)
Linear PCM 2 ch 88.2 khz (NOT ticked)
Linear PCM 2 ch 176.4 khz (NOT ticked)
Linear PCM 2 ch 48 khz (ticked)
Thanks very much.

To the first 'answeree' keep on topic, help is being requested not fanboyism. The PS3 has more settings to consider as it has more features.
If you're going to be playing PS1/2 games then change the upscaling and smoothing options to 'normal' and 'on' respectively.
If you TV supports 24fps / hz then set it to 'on' if blu-ray movies seem to 'judder' during panning scenes, it may help.
Other than that all the other setting seem spot-on, not sure about the audio ones as mine is routed through my TV 's HDMI port not an external system.
