When I try to get on yahoo now I'm getting:

You have attempted to execute a CGI, ISAPI, or other executable program from a directory that does not allow programs to be executed.

From what I can gather it's like his software has disabled something on my laptop, but I don't know how to enable it again, any help gratefully received. I feel like crowning him, so I think he'd be pleased too.

Thanks crossroads, I tried temp blocking the firewall but I still couldn't get on to it.

I feel like it's something to do with this IIS thingy as on the cannot access page lower down it mentions:

Go to Microsoft Product Support Services and perform a title search for the words HTTP and 403.
Open IIS Help, which is accessible in IIS Manager (inetmgr), and search for topics titled Configuring ISAPI Extensions, Configuring CGI Applications, Securing Your Site with Web Site Permissions, and About Custom Error Messages.
In the IIS Software Development Kit (SDK) or at the MSDN Online Library, search for topics titled Developing ISAPI Extensions, ISAPI and CGI, and Debugging ISAPI Extensions and Filters.

If it comes to it I am sure I can find someone to fix it at work or something - it's just a bit annoying. I do appreciate your help, by the time this evening's over and when I do get it sorted, I will probably require the yahoo dating service, ha ha ha.

crossy, don't apologise, it's really nice of you to spend your time trying to help - virtual pint at you mate.

I could open the page you linked through to me.
Then its somthing thats blocking yahoo, or cookies and not somthing to do with asp.
I am afraid to say i can't help you beads. Sorry, for wasting your time.
I'm sure if you call out somebody they will fix it but off hand i can't think of anything else.
Could be IIS related though.
Good luck and i hope you get it sorted!

bit more info needed though.

can you actually get into the sighn in page or the homepage or anything thats connected to the main yahoo site?
Question Author
I can crossroads, it is when I try to sign in I get the error message.
Ahh, thank you beads, i'll see you in a few mins.
Question Author
:-) crossroads
Can you log into yahoo from any other computer or is it the same outcome?
Well beads, i really am sorry.
I can't help you at the moment.
Please do update me if you get it fixed and what the problem was.
I think its most likley IIS related and to do with the software changes your partner made when installing the RDC.
All i can suggest is that you either call out somebody who will most likley be able to understand the problem more than i do (difficult to know without looking at it myself).
Thank you for taking the time to try out my suggestions.
I hope you get the problem sorted,
Crossy. [:-)]

thank you, am going to have a peruse.
By any chance does the prog(s) name include redside?

I think the rights restrictions go a little deeper ... it sounds possible that it's one of the flavours of tunnelguard which locks the WHOLE computer into the VPN client

It's a combination virus, firewall, vpn client - and a couple of other security lockdown tools

if that's the case ... the only way of uninstalling the software is to use a system password that's built into the software and will be known only to your guy's system admin .... and he isn't going to compromise the company's security by giving it to you.

If this is the case ... the only way out is to backup any precious files ... crash and burn the PC ... break your guy's fingers

Hi Beads, try going to the MSN group listed above, you will have to join but they are the best people to help you out I think. Make sure you read the rules before posting your message though as it will help you to know how to phrase your message. I hope you get it sorted out.
