Is there any real difference between expensive fleeces in outdoor shops and cheap ones in Primark?

Is this the right section for this question?

Maybe try Shopping section

Or How it works section
but just to be polite - no real difference.

Oh -until you step into the wind, which just blows straight through the primark ones.
I'd guess the main difference is the label! They're probably all made in the same factories in China.
VHG .... is your ulcer playing you again?

Surely Hi-tec belongs here?
"where would I buy" .... belongs in shopping
how does it work (which is what's being asked) .... here

Near me is a mill that produces fleeces that go by the name of polartec (I know about these)
the top of the range fleeces are made of hollow fiber (which is how a polar bear does it (hence the name!)

when they first came out they caused quite a stir - cost a mint - went to the south pole ....not now though

the real measure of how good a fleece is is the same as for duvets - their TOG rating (a bit of a tekkie term ... but we are in technology!!)

within reason price and TOG value are linked ...
but a designer fleece could cost 100s

..... because it's designed to be seen ... is better suited to indoors
