I and my brother rescued a couple of unfeathered wrens. Since then they have grown and are now fully feathered. They were happily released from our house into the back garden several days ago.
The little mites keep returning to be let in and so we do. They spend the night on the curtains then go out again in the morning.
My question is when are they likely to go their own way? I personally think 'nature' will kick in come spring when their natural urges take hold but I'm not so sure. Are we creating bigger problems for them by allowing them back into the house at night? I don't have the heart to bar the door to them unless its fundamentally creating bigger issues for them.
i think you are right we had a partridge chick that my son picked up off the road all wet and bedraggled one year he slept in the greenhouse once he had proper feathers and always came home in the evenings till the spring then he left and we didnt see him any more
