My main irritation, is the belief, in some quarters, that English culture equates to British culture, virtually relegating the other three countries that make up the UK, to, as the BBC loved to call them, the regions.

As I understand it, the proms were broadcast from London, the capital of the United Kingdom & NI and broadcast by screens to
Carrickfergus
Glasgow
London
Swansea
Tees Valley
Now I am sure that anyone of any nationality was able to flag wave any flag of any country wherever they were watching it from, without being accused of aggressive patriotism. If you looked closely enough you might have seen the flag of St George, St Andrews' Saltire, the Lion Rampant, the Welsh Red Dragon and the Union Flag. Whether they were waving their own flag in the regions or the Albert Hall does it really matter? Could this not really be about uniting all the Kingdoms.? In many respects this seems to be welcomed by the 2007 participants and spectators.
