Back pain and arm ache?
Hello again,
I just entered my 14th week and this weekend although hasn't been plagued by sickness i've had the most horrendous back pain! I baked all morning on saturday and by the time i'd finished i could not find a comfortable position to be in because my back ached so bad. also, when i was using my arms (for whisking - using an electric whisk) i kept having to put it down because my arm ached so bad. i spent all night squatting and sitting in weird positions to alleviate the pain i had in my back. is this normal so early in pregnancy???
thanks everyone

I take it that youve had your 12 week scan and all was well?
The hormones that your body produces in pregnancy cause the ligaments and bones to soften slightly to allow for the sudden growth that your body is going to undergo. Your back will take on more fat as well as the pregnancy progresses to ease it as you put more weight on.
I would say that if you were standing all day and mixing then its entirely possible that this is just a normal side effect from overdoing it.
If in pain, you can take paracetamol unless your midwife has stated otherwise, its usually perfectly safe during pregnancy.

Hi yes, 12 week scan was all fine! so were my bloods/urine. to be honest i'm enjoying all the symptoms because it's my first time! I'm just struggling to know when i'm over doing it compared to using the pregnancy as an excuse! me and my husband went shopping yesterday for only a few hours and i slept like a baby for 3 hours when i got home PLUS the car journey back - i was shattered!!! does it really take it out of you that much?!
