water loss
Hi, my daughters ford fiesta 53 plate keeps running out of water, could it be the gasket, if so any idea how much this will cost. The fan cutts in even on short journeys.
Thanks.
Thanks.

You state that " The fan cuts in even on short journeys "
The fan will only cut in if there is water in the system to heat the fan sensor.
How often is water replenishment required ?
If the fault is in the gasket, then you should see a white emulsion when you remove the oil filler cap, and your exhaust would be blowing out quantaties of steam and water droplets.
As Zacsmaster advises, fill radiator, run engine until hot,
this raises the pressure in the cooling system, and a SMALL leak in your hoses will not show up until then.
Should the worst come to the worst, don't use a ford main agent. It's better to shop around.
With any luck the problem will be solved by tightening up a few hose circlips

I would check the filler cap seal first. If this is weak or the seal damaged the pressure in the cooling system will be reduced.
Remember your school physics, the lower the pressure the lower the temperature at which water boils. If the fan is cutting in on short trips this suggests Failing that get the cooling system pressure tested if the pressure drops off and no leaks then it's the head gasket.
