What with imposters, links to hardcore porn, steady abuse of regular posters, no apparent action when a myriad of people report a post, and severe server problems, this once helpful and fun site is being dragged into the mire. And the ed's very quiet - does he/she exist? Anyway, it's almost no longer worth coming on here. If it's not fixed you'll lose us all.

B00, I am also disappointed by the rubbish appearing here, seemingly unobstructed by the editorial team. The rules are clear enough, but nobody's enforcing them. I don't know how the Ed sees her job, but from where I sit it's kind of hard to spot.

I quite agree ..although I have to admit to rambling on at times myself I like to think I do contribute a bit of sense to some of the categories but hardly ever the category in question.
Far too much insulting and childish behaviour and people who seem to like to hear themselves talk .Name calling and insulting dross.It would be the last place I would resort to if I had a problem .
There is what is called healthy debate but some of the stuff I see on here is just pure vitriol from people who couldn't debate their way out of a paper bag.

Seems to me that alot of the garbage is in Body and Soul, what a shame because there are serious questions on that topic. Maybe the Anwerbank Editor could rename the Body and Soul Topic something so obscure the idiots wont figure out where it is ;-)

Whickerman, I agree totally. I was actually gonna post a question asking if any one remembred the better times on here, yes we had the SR to deal with but that was more or less it. I now dont even get involved in questions posted by possible imposters and to be honest I find it hard to believe how these imposters don't get completely bored with themselves! As for another site, well I understand that those who went to the dark side have also had their problems.

Ed needs to get it sorted sooner rather than later.

This forum is certainly confusing for neewbies (of which I still am) people are banned but post although they are banned. members refer to other members on a thread as one name (yet the thread does not show that name as a poster) some seem to have a problem with other members and are quite nasty about it (eg:Dot Hawkes who seems to be hated and I really can't see why) some old members names are now green. The Ed never updates his/her blog.

i don't come here much now. If I have a question I will ask it and hope the thread is not ruined by going off tangent. If I see something I think I can help to answer I will but I don't spent much time here any more because its not what it used to be - at all. No disrespect intended to the serious members. Just seems to be a free for few to hurl abuse and ruin all serious posts who get banned/do not get banned/change names/carry on and I don't think AB was intended for this at all. I don't know who the members are that are ruining it but they certainly are and there seems to be no Ed or mods to stop it - and its a terrible shame.

Thing is it happens in waves, things are great (and when they are I love this place) but when they get really bad its horrible :-(

SallyX, have you tried Exochat? It is a simple site, not as complex or as well known as Answerbank is but it offers a place to chat to new friends and have the banter that Body and Soul used to have before the vile stuff occured of recent weeks.

The real problem isnt a site, but the fact the troublemakers on that site will soon move from one place to another and cause more trouble. It is like a small clique of two groups who like to move from forum to forum, site to site causing problems for each of the members on the opposing group and it is unfortunately something that will happen wherever you end up settling.

Anyway, for now Exochat seems a fairly friendly place, I see Boo and Legend are on it so maybe they can vouch for whether it appears friendly enough or not.

Other sites I have heard about are one that is called Dafties or something, although I am aware that Whiffy has connections to that site too and therefore may bring the said "Haters" to it if he uses that more than Answerbank. But I havent registered to know whether that is the case.

Brainformation is similar to Answerbank from what I have heard and little i have seen for serious Q and A and debate.

Then there is Chatterbank or similar but I believe they have a very strict cliqueness about it and so new people are treated with a lot of suspicion.

So far Exochat (stick a dot com at the end of the name) is my favourite but it is basic and not an in depth Q and A site that Answerbank we all know and love is. But it has a few Answerbankers on it and it is more free to chat than they allow on this one if you just want a gossip or a laugh.

Here is hoping that any of the above recommendations dont get infected by the scourge of aliases and abusers too quickly tho :(

Well as a new person I don't think the site is finished because somehow the old members are able to get back and have to invent new names that combines their old names. We remain with the old members at the end of the day who - I think - do the Ed's job and do it very, very well.

If I had a question I would still post it because I think the genuine members would reply to it. I can ignore the silly answers and I would know the long term members would reply or at least run off the silly posters and so I discern the replies I get.

No, I don't think we have an Ed right now. I think the Ed (he or she?) has absconded and has left things to the long term members or mods and with them trying to get stability back are left open to ridicule and maybe banning. But god bless the legit members who are holding AB together while the Ed is nowhere to be seen.
