Canine Milk Teeth

Handsome George is just about to get his first adult tooth. When we had our last puppy I saved his milk teeth but they've disappeared. Do milk teeth just dissolve? Am I wasting my time?

Hiya, thugulike - I found some of my pup's teeth on the floor. Maybe they just drop out & get hoovered up! Really don't know, though, cos I never found many. (Same with the kittens!) K xx (ps love to George!!)

He probably eats/swallows them.

My last cat was called "George the Magnificent and Brave". He was old when I got him, had a humped back, half a tail, a jutting out breast bone and little stumpy legs (runt of the litter the vet thought, when she stopped laughing). When I first got him he was frightened of everything. Before long he was prowling around his estate eating all intruders - okay wandering around the flat eating beasties.

What breed(s) is Handsome George?

Handsome George is an Old English Mastiff, 15 weeks old and he's put on over a stone in the last 3 weeks! I found the puppy teeth from Boris the Rottie and put them in my jewellery box but they're not there any more. Rather strange and probably says quite a lot about me but I didn't keep my sons milk teeth....

George is proving to be bomb proof. This afternoon the air ambulance landed in our field and the noise was deafening. We took him outside to watch and he was completely unfazed.

I love big dogs.

Our first dog was to be a bulldog/GSD - my mum's friend offered it to us. The dog turned out to be a bull-mastiff cross.

He was named George when he was born, we called him Hutch. He was a laid back version of Scooby Doo. Loved people and was scared of dogs. He died in 1988 and I miss him so much. Having said that we should have called him Houdini the fence/wall climber.

She's 8 years old now, thugulike, but she's still a puppy at heart! She's a long-haired GSD and an absolute angel! She adores the cats & once mothered an orphaned lamb that we had in the house. In fact, any sick or orphaned animals I bring in & she's there to look after them. Sadly, she's been spayed, so never had pups of her own - I think she'd have made a wonderful mum. K xx

Kleiber - your GSD sounds lovely. Both my dogs were male.

You have both managed to get me all broody again - I will list all the reasons for me to get a dog and the reasons why it is a bad idea (ie a cat rebellion).

no I still have my border collies and she 6 now ( i must get a life lol) and there as firm as ever , my gsd pup will be loseing his in a few weeks so I will watching out for them although they do tend to swallow them ,or go up the vacum but I do draw the line at looking for them when they appear the other end lol

and as for feeling broody your welcome to my little monster for the next 6 months and I will have him back so far hes damage my fire surrond, the skirting boards,corners of doors chewed my carpet,, mouthed my hand till they are sore, drove the cats mad my collie escapes to the kitchen for some peace , hes pushing his luck with my old gsd so im waiting for her to put him in his place , cost me a fortune in toys ,but what the hell its the joys of owning a puppy GypsyX

Hey, Gypsy - you've obviously not escaped to Builth this weekend (You haven't missed anything, the weather's been lousy!) Nico sounds just like mine when they were little - one used to chew shoes, although only one of a pair - it got so bad that I considered having a leg amputated, I had so many odd shoes! They chewed the stairs (what a mess, you should see them even now - people come to visit & think I've got giant mice in the place!), the skirting boards, one even ate a leather sofa when he was a pup - sadly, he's crossed the rainbow bridge now.
Thugulike, you've had dogs before & you know what you've let yourself in for - you love 'em, all the same!! Luv, K xx

Hello gypsy, glad you're having fun with Nico, he sounds just like Max when he was a puppy, it took weeks to put things back to normal. Thugulike, when I had Che, my first GSD my 6yr old niece found one of his milk teeth and insisted that I put it some where and save it, When Max started loosing his puppy teeth, she again insisted that we save any we find and the now live in a jewel box with Che's tooth

I do have digital photos of George but I don't know how to load them onto AB. Happy to oblige if someone tells me how. Or ask any of the dozens of people who took photos of him last week with their phones.

thugulike, there are lots of photo sharing sites on the web and most are easy to use, the one I use being photobucket. When you find a site you like register with them and up load your photos (they usually have good "help" sites if you have problems) Once you have got your photos onto the site open up the photo you want to share and highlight it in the address bar, click on edit and then click on copy. Go to the site you want to send the photos on (inn this case AB) start your post and when you want to add the link click edit and then paste and your link to photo site should come up in your post

Paddywak - could you send Max up to Scotland to finish stripping the bathroom wallpaper. Frankie the nasty tom cat has stripped the bit around the window, but seems to have got fed up. He is a lovely looking big ball of fluff.

I have never had a whold GSD - just two half ones!

I'm afraid now he's grown up and realised that he is a member of the superior species it's a hard job to get him to do anything except boss me about. He's even stopped stripping the wall paper and doing other odd-jobs he just lies about with a smirk on his face watching me work and thinking of ways to make me realise just how much I'm under his control.
