That is down to personal opinion, and there is no definitive answer.

..but in just about every test, review and op-ed, you will find that the most recommended is Eset NOD32. There is no free version of NOD32.

I use AVG's free antivirus, along with Windows Defender and regular scans from AdAware.

free Av's are very good - most start with A - Anti Vir,Avast,and AVG

I haven't paid for an antivirus for years and have had no problems

If you do want to pay NOD32,kapersky get good reviews Panda and Norton -well do your own research
