Obviously it won't make local government employees angry, but it bloody well does me.
I'm paying nearly 700 PA and rising for their final salary pensions.
Solutions? scrap their final salary schemes!

However, I do find your comments objectionable and antagonistic (although they don't contravene the 'rules' of this forum) and they offer little new in the way of argument (ie. I don't use it, I don't like paying my share, so I'm going to have a rant about it).
If you are as intelligent as I suspect you'd claim, then show me. Convince your council to change its policy. Talk them into letting you off a portion of your council tax. Then come back here and show me how it's done. I really do object to paying the police to look after your considerably valuable property (judging by the amount of council tax you claim to pay), so if I can find a way of getting the amount reduced, I'd be grateful.
Until then though, I'll just have to keep paying it, I guess.

Pontificate as much as you like saxy, but it is clear to me and indeed would be to anybody else reading this thread that the obnoxious oik comment was very obviously aimed at me.
You've broken rule number 1 of the Site Rules.
Feel free to insult me because you don't like my perfectly valid opinion if you must, but at least have the courage to admit it was an insult instead of attempting to employ spin as shown in your first paragraph above.
THe policy analagy is flawed - we don't have the option of funding a private police force, we do however have the option of privately funding a pension.

But you/we don't have the option of paying your/our council tax and hence funding the council's workers.
All I have to say is ... tough.
Jump up and down and let the steam out of your ears at the situation if you must. Unless you actually do</> something about it, then what you're doing is pretty pointless and gives your 'valid' (because that's subjective) little credence.
If you don't like what I post, there's a little button just down there that says 'report this answer'. No-one's stopping you clicking it.
And it's 'analogy' by the way.
